RIPEN Hub Hackathon, March 2023.

RIPEN Hub Hackathon meeting 9th March 2023, Holliday Inn, Guilford Surrey

The first RIPEN Hub Hackathon event took place in the Uni of Surrey, Guilford 9th March 2023. The aim of the Hackathon was to identify the key research priorities in nutrition research and set up the hub priority setting for the first year. We used a complicated methodology based on James Lind Alliance priority setting exercise to run this by asking all hub members involvement. During the Hackathon participants were asked to navigate from the on-line exercises outcome to 5 ideas that will form the key streamlines for the first year. The final ideas are listed below:

The RIPEN Hub will look to fund projects that align with the 2023/24 priority areas:

Food structure (matrix effects, bioavailability)

Food processing (degree and type of processing)

Chemical constituents in foods (fibre, vitamins, additives, sweeteners)

Alternative food sources (plants, insects, algae)

Targeted nutrition (individual/grouped)
